Complex operations rarely fail for lack of strategy. They fail in the details — the contracts, the people, the procurement, the paperwork.

Since 2013, Ahmed Saeed has worked at the end where it is actually decided — running administration, HR, procurement and project coordination for multinational contractors on Rumaila, Zubair and West Qurna, three of Iraq’s largest fields.

It is work measured by what does not happen: the delay that does not occur, the penalty that is not incurred, the crew that arrives on time with valid permits. He now works in business development, writes on legal technology, and studies alongside the job.

  1. 2013 — 2024

    Oilfield Project Administration

    Over a decade inside oilfield and EPCC project delivery on Rumaila, Zubair and West Qurna: contract coordination, procurement cycles, payroll, tax compliance, document control and the permitting that governs whether work can proceed. Across STX Heavy Industries, Tatwir Al-Rumaila and Sae-A STX Entech.

  2. 2013 — 2024

    Building the HR Function

    Workforce administration on projects that staff up fast and operate under Iraqi labour law — recruitment, employee relations, policy, and the compliance work that keeps a multinational contractor operating legally in-country.

  3. 2021 — 2024

    Multi-Function Management

    Holding HR, IT, procurement and finance under one management line for oilfield project operations — the point at which administration stops being clerical and becomes the operating system of the business.

  4. 2024 — present

    Commercial Development in Professional Services

    Business development for a legal practice: partnerships, institutional relationships, and expansion into wider Middle Eastern markets — applying operational discipline to a professional services firm rather than an industrial one.
